For the first time ever ….. ever …. AND BY INVITE ONLY!

Salimpour Sigil Group Improv level 1 in person in Santa Cruz California! There are 2 weekend options for you to choose from, March 7-8 or July 25-26 2026. 2 days, 12 hours of instruction, 6 hours each day with a 1 hour lunch.

This structured improvisational format, guided by rotating leaders, brings together dancers trained in the Salimpour and Sigil Methods to create choreography in real time. Drawing from SWANA dance traditions, where improvisation is often central, and contemporary dance practices of ensemble improvisation, the work is both rooted and evolving. With a shared vocabulary, profound trust, and responsive listening, the dancers build a call-and-response dialogue through movement. This fusion of spontaneity and discipline salutes the freeform creativity of improvisation and the intuitive synchronicity of a community of dancers.

We will be using the entire level 1 Salimpour vocabulary with the improvisational staging system of the Sigil Method. At the end of the weekend you can expect to have a completed level 1 group improv format ready for practice and performance! This work is by invite only as of right now so if you received an email you are invited!

The cost for the weekend is $400usd and held at Desert Dream Dance Studio 1515 Soquel Ave Santa Cruz 95062. 

March weekend is coming up in 2 months and the July weekend we put in front of the Salimpour weeklong for those of you who are traveling from farther away. Both weekends are instructed by Amy Sigil.
